Massage Therapy at Funk Chiropractic
While you may think of massage as a pampering spa treatment, it has many therapeutic benefits. Not only can massage alleviate pain, but it also promotes relaxation, improves circulation, elevates mood, increases range of motion, and more. Did you know that a one-hour massage is as beneficial as walking a mile?
What Is Massage?

Meet Our Therapists
Mathew Gutierrez, Neuromuscular Therapist
Before he embarked on his massage career, Matthew considered becoming either an EMT or a nurse.
I decided on massage therapy because I liked working with my hands.”
For Matthew, it’s highly fulfilling to see clients get great results and be able to feel much better and move more easily.
Previous to joining Funk Chiropractic, Matthew worked at a spa for many years. He realized he wanted to work in a chiropractic setting so he was happy when the opportunity arose for him to join Dr. Funk’s office. “I’ve always been drawn to chiropractic care and medical massage and a combination of the two.”
Education and Certification
Matthew received certification from the National Holistic Institute in 2018. He also has achieved certification in many massage techniques. These include deep tissue, Swedish, foot reflexology, shiatsu, and Thai. After attaining those certifications, Matthew obtained neuromuscular certification.
He hears from many clients that he’s highly knowledgeable about his profession. Matthew always seeks to deliver the best massage possible at every session and help each client achieve their particular goals.
Outside the Practice
When he’s not at the practice, Matthew enjoys playing video games and reading about muscle therapy and how to rehabilitate injuries.
Patricia Bryant, RMT
What I love most about being a massage therapist is when patients get results and they tell me that I made them feel better or helped heal them from their pain.”
Education and Certification
Before becoming a massage therapist, Patricia worked as a hairstylist at different salons and spas. After deciding to become a massage therapist, she attended Julie’s Massage Therapy and School. She joined our practice in 2016; it was an opportunity that fell in her lap.
Patricia is certified in the following: Swedish massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, lomi lomi, and cupping. She likes that massage and chiropractic go hand-in-hand. Dr. Funk often will tell her what areas to focus on during sessions with clients.
In Her Spare time
Outside of work Patricia enjoys spending time with her family, including her three children and four grandchildren. She enjoys visiting with them and having barbecues.
